Did You Know….the Lyrid Meteor Shower is peaking around April 21st to the 22nd? It is estimated to be active until April 26th and is best seen from the Northern Hemisphere. This is where meteors, which are solid particles from space, radiate from the sky. They are caused by cosmic debris called meteoroids. The moon will be 40% full and the best time to see the meteor shower is after midnight.
Did You Know…April 22nd is Earth Day? More than a billion people celebrate Earth Day to help clean our planet. The first Earth Day was in 1970. By 1990, Earth Day was honored by more than 140 countries. It is important to recognize this day because so much trash gets blown and littered throughout the years. That is why recycling and reusing is becoming more popular. We should use our resources effectively.
Did You Know…William Shakespeare’s birthday is April 23rd? Shakespeare was a famous actor and writer that wrote plays and poems. Some of his pieces include Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet, and more. His early years, including his exact date of birth, are not very well known. Later on, he married Anne Hathaway and had three children. He was also part of a theatre company that was called Lord Chamberlain’s Men.
Did You Know…April 25th is World Penguin Day? This day is all about learning about penguins! There are many varieties of penguins including the Emperor, King, Macaroni, and more. They live south of the equator in all different climates. Penguins only eat seafood such as squid, fish, and krill. There are penguin exhibits at SeaWorld and many local zoos.
