Titans, as the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year is coming to an end, have you thought about what classes you would like to take in the upcoming school year? If you’re looking for recommendations, I would say that CCR in room 214 is a great option. CCR stands for College and Career Ready Math, and although the name might be a bit startling at first, it is an engaging, fun math class.
Mr. Staten is the teacher that runs it, and he always makes sure that every student is where they need to be. He makes sure that everyone is following along so that they don’t get behind on work. When asked about why he wanted to teach this class, Mr. Staten responded that last year was his first year teaching seniors, and he enjoys how we’re coming to the end of a path while also beginning an entirely new path, college. He finds this detail very interesting and it’s one of the things that keeps him wanting to teach this class.
As stated before, this is a slow-paced yet engaging class. Since it has a college curriculum, the seniors have extra time to work through most assignments because they meet more often than students in college do. Mr. Staten also says that he likes how this class helps students build time management skills. We decide on whether we use the time given to us in class to work on assignments or not. He is also a very engaging teacher. He is always asking if students need any help with assignments, and he is also always joking around with his class. He teaches us the things that we need to know, but he makes sure to do it in a fun way. It wouldn’t be the same with a different teacher.
So, if you are looking for class options, Mr. Statens’ College and Career Ready Math class is a great one.
