Favorite School Memory (High School or Other): Visiting Notre Dame with my AP Bio class and getting to participate in a DNA lab.
The class and teacher you enjoyed the most: The class that I enjoyed the most was AP Bio with Mrs. Deutsche. I was able to learn so much and the class further developed my love for science. I also really enjoyed all of the labs that we did in class and getting to create our own labs.
After High School Plans: I am going to Illinois State University and majoring in Biochemistry.
My goal(s) for 10 years from now: I would like to have a stable job working in a lab to create medicines to help others.
The person or people I admire the most: The teachers that I admire most are Mr. Birell and Mr. Rucinski. I had Mr. Birell for honors physics and AP physics II, and I have had Mr. Rucinski for Honors chemistry and AP chemistry, and they are both really intelligent and passionate about science. Mr. Birell always had some interesting story to share about his previous jobs in science or interesting facts about scientists to share. Mr. Rucinski is able to make writing notes interesting, with his stories and analogies to help things make sense; and I admire his dedication and love for chemistry which can be seen in the different word problems and questions including short stories about chemistry that he hand writes.
The teacher or coach that has had the biggest impact on me is? And why. Mr. Aiello has been my band director for 4 years, and he ensured that band was a place that everyone would feel welcome and their hard work would be recognized. Mr. Aiello pushes people to do their best, and his class has helped me feel like a part of something, and also taught me valuable skills like teamwork, commitment, and perseverance.
Advice you would give to underclassmen: Be involved in the school and join clubs. Being in a club gives you a space to connect with others and also helps you to express yourself and find your interests.
